What the heck is a “super food”? After seeing this claim plastered all over food labels recently, I decided to delve a little further and look into what a super food actually is. And no, these foods unfortunately don’t wear spandex and large letters on their chests. Turns out “super food” is somewhat of a made up term for foods that provide multiple disease-fighting nutrients, promoting wellness and weight control. These foods pack a punch by being sparse in calories and dense in nutrients. Examples of these foods include quinoa, beans, salmon, spinach, broccoli, berries, and (my personal favorite) dark chocolate. Incorporating these superfoods into your daily diet helps to maintain your overall health and stave off disease.
